proposing an exhibition at art attic gallery

Art Attic Gallery is excited to open the 2025 call for exhibition proposals. We welcome submissions from local, national, and international artists for projects across a variety of creative disciplines, including curatorial projects, writing, performance, workshops, and events.

We encourage proposals that emphasize process and experimental practice. Projects that explore the gallery space, engage with architectural elements, or interact with cultural and historical narratives will be prioritised.

Art Attic Gallery is committed to innovation, platforming ideas that develop understanding within our local communities. We are particularly interested in projects that highlight diverse and underrepresented perspectives.

Art Attic Gallery is committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and encourages proposals from mana whenua, tangata whenua, and maata waka, as well as Pasifika and other indigenous artists.

the process

Submit your application as a single PDF file, or a video recording (.MP4 or .MOV).

Applications Must Include:

- A 500-word outline describing your proposed project and how it relates to your ongoing practice. Proposals that are clear, critically engaged, and well-researched will be given preference. We’re not expecting a finalised project at this stage, but rather ideas that are well-considered and ready for further exploration in conversation with Art Attic Gallery.

Additionally, please include any creative activations you'd like to develop alongside the project, such as performances, workshops, or artist talks.

- 4-5 supporting images, audio, drawings, or links to online works. These can include working images, plans, background material or previous works.

- a 1-page Artist CV, for yourself and any other collaborators.
