open call 2026

Art Attic Gallery welcomes proposals for our 2026 exhibition programme. We invite submissions across all creative disciplines - including visual art, curation, performance, writing, workshops, and events.

We encourage proposals that explore process, experimentation, and engagement with space, architecture, or cultural and historical narratives, especially those relating to Southland Murihiku. Projects reflecting diverse or underrepresented perspectives are strongly encouraged.

We uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and warmly welcome proposals from mana whenua, tangata whenua, maata waka, Pasifika, and other indigenous artists.

How to Apply

Submit your application as a single PDF or video file (.MP4/.MOV) to: [email protected]

Your application must include:

- A project outline detailing your idea and its connection to your practice. Proposals that are clear, critically engaged, and well-researched will be given preference. We’re not expecting a finalised project at this stage, but rather ideas that are well-considered and ready for further exploration in conversation with our team.

- 4-5 supporting materials (images, audio, sketches, links, or past works).

- An artist CV for yourself and any collaborators.

What to Expect

- Proposals are reviewed by our curatorial panel.

- A modest artist fee is offered in line with sector guidelines.

- We provide facilitation and curatorial support including install/deinstall, promotional, and help with production needs including accessing funding.

- We ask for a small commission on any sales made during the project.

After submitting your proposal, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive this email by the closing date, please contact the gallery to ensure your submission was received.

Deadline: 8pm, October 26, 2025
